Are you ready for some baseball?

Now that football season is overall, I can starting focusing on my second favorite college sport...baseball. Southern Miss kicks off its season this weekend with the Coca-Cola Classic at Peter Taylor Park in Hattiesburg. Unfortunately, Hattiesburg is a little more than five hours away, so I won't be able catch many games. USM will make a visit to Memphis in late March to play against the Memphis Tigers in a Conference USA match up, so I'll get to watch at least 3 games.

Southern Miss should have a solid club that should compete for the conference championship and make its 5th straight post season appearance. Rice is the team to beat this season in C-USA, but Tulane, East Carolina and USM should give the Owls a run for their money.

The Memphis Tigers club should turn a few heads this season with a much improved team. Their schedule has several great games in the upcoming months, including games with BYU, Missouri, Mississippi, Mississippi State and USM. Tickets are very reasonably priced and games are family friendly. I can't wait until the season starts locally next week.
