Quick Hits: Tigers Lose Garcia, Pick Up Jackson, Football Picks

Memphis Tigers coach Josh Pastner must have been riding an emotional roller coaster on Friday. Early in the day, Pastner announced that 6'11 Angel Garcia will miss his sophomore season with a torn ACL. Garcia's absence leaves the Tigers with just eight scholarship players for the season.

Pastner's frown was turned upside down on Friday evening when local high school standout guard Joe Jackson announced his verbal commitment to the Tigers. Jackson is the 12th best player in the country and the 5th best point guard according the Rivals.com. He will be eligible to play in the 2010-11 season.
